My dog has a skin breakout... almost like a "chicken pox" type of thing it seems... what is it?

She seems to be acting like she feels fine... but all along her stomach and even a little in her ears the skin is broken almost like chicken pox in humans... it's not that dense on her skin though... but there are several red spots that almost look like broken skin...

this just occured in the past day and I just had her vacinated... I've heard of other dogs that have skin breakouts after vacinations before and maybe it's just that simple?

anyone familiar with this sort of thing? I was going to call the vet tomorrow and ask him anyway... but I was just wondering?

Sounds like an aleegic reaction to the shots. Take her to the vet and he can prescibe something to help/

Probablly reaction to shots I'd call the vet asap
Reply:Calling your vet is the best But my dog has had a similar case I think. Do those pox look like red bumps? These red bumps grow under my dog’s chin and on his elbows and some on his belly. We took him to the vet and the vet gave us antibiotics. She told us it was “dog acne”.

The antibiotics helped and the bumps have gone away.

But since you mentioned that your dog just got vaccinated it may be some sort of allergic reaction.
Reply:Call the vet and ask to play it safe. Could just be the vaccination doing it's thing, could be an allergy. One of my dogs has an allergy, that makes her break out, and scratch. Hope you find out...Good Luck!
Reply:Sounds like hives. My oldest chihuahua once broke out like that (the only things I had done differently was the shampoo I'd used and I had wormed him). I gave him a little Benedryl (about 1/2 teaspoon of kids liquid benedryl for a 7 pound dog). It cleared it up for him. But then I'd already known by that point that this dog has allergies so I had no problem using an antihistamine on him.

As for her vaccinations, they are most likely the culprit. You can give her some bendryl tonight and call the vet tomorrow (as long as her reaction doesn't get any worse). Make sure your vet knows she has had a reaction so you both know what to do with her the next time (he may have you give bendryl before the next vaccination or you may not have to give her any more).
