Dry, Itchy, and Sensitive Skin! I need help.?

I am 20 years old, and have light tan skin. I have extremely Dry, Itchy, and Sensitive Skin! I have suffered from folliculitis and many times after I shave my legs turn red and bumpy. Soon I will have laser hair removal done, but for now I need something. After I shave my skin itches for days. Right now I am using St. Ives Extra Dry Skin Lotion but I am still itching. Any advice, tips or suggestions are accepted (no oily lotions please).

Thank you so much

I recommend Aveeno skin care products. I use all their products from facial moisturizer, body lotion and soap. I suggest that you use unscented products since you have follicultis. The fragrance is the culprit for the itchiness!

contact a dermatologist.
Reply:Try putting some baby oil in the bath, and then have a nice relax in the tub.
Reply:my skin calms down after using thermal water

i prefer avene but there more other firms: vichy, uriage, bioderma

i also use every day an emollient cream to prevent eczemas
Reply:I agree with Sally, try some baby oil.
Reply:I use straight jojoba oil, when shaving, it's a nourishing, non-greasy oil. It holds moisture in, and is good to use directly after shower too. I have dry sensitive skin too, in the winter time, I also use Aveeno, menthol lotion. It cools the itch right away!! It's awesome!!
Reply:do not shave your legs, or avoid it for a few days. grow the hairs to 2mm and then wax them instead of shaving. in the meantime go to the chemist and ask for aqueous cream, and use that instead of cream and soap. it is quite thick and if you mix it with water it makes a good fragrance free and soap free 'soap'. The St Ives could be irritating you if you are very sensitive as it may contain fragrances and chemicals.
Reply:The only thing that works for me is Aveeno lotion with oatmeal. It is a beige with green on it and it is the only thing I use because it is not oily and is for sensitive skin. It can be expensive, so I use the Walmart brand and it is awesome.
Reply:Baby oil works wonders! After you shave, run a warm bath, nothing major, even just a few cups worth....and rinse yourself off. Don't dry off, rather pat yourself off if you don't want to 'air dry'. I would recommend Jergen's lotions. The others are not bad recommendations, but I am speaking from my personal experience. I am 21, hispanic, female, and I had your problem with really dry skin. As for the folliculitis, I am sure you have tried many products, so I don't know what to tell you about that. Have you tried St. Ives Medicated(not the lotion, the face wash...works on all parts of the body)? It's inexpensive and I know it helped my brother, he had that.
Reply:Try "Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy." It's dermatologist recommended Look for the words "Plus Intensive Repair Lotion" on the bottle or tube. I buy it at Wal*Mart, but they sell it most everywhere. Good luck!
Reply:Eucerin or Avenno work great. I have very dry sensitive skin

I now use and sell Mary Kay and of course would recommend those too but that's what I used before oh and Luburdurm (sp)lotion worked okay too. See if they have website sometime they will send you samples or coupons.
Reply:Dry skin is a big thing. One of the problem is because we wash in chlorinated water everyday. Chlorine is a bleaching agent and it strips away the natural skin oil. All the cream and lotion we put on is not the same and it is a after application. I do have dry skin myself and I use shower filter. It really help is you case is same as mine. Use shower filter and also apply the cream to see it that works. I myself uses shower filter and finds it to work for me, but still I use cream.
