Why do people think fair skin is ugly?

It seems like every skin color, from darkest brown to a lighter tan is acceptable and considered beautiful, but fair skin is considered something that must be dealt with. People with fair skin are told that they should get a tan, whether fake or real, even if the real tan takes lots of burning and skin damage and the fake one is orange and gross. Does anybody out there besides me think fair skin is pretty, too?

It's a way for people who feel they are not naturally beautiful to do something which makes them think they are more beautiful....





What it comes down to is a person in their natural state, in their natural color is the most beautiful of all. Tampering with your skin color - especially with fake tans - can look so wrong and so unnatural. It makes it seem like you're trying to hard.





I personally prefer pale. It means less skin cancer - particularly to those of us with Irish/Scottish descent.





Besides, a tan seems like all you do is sit on the beach or in a salon in your free time rather than doing something useful or interesting.

i have light blonde hair and pinkish skin people are always telling me i am too pale they call me pasty girl and i get soo offended i am scandinavian it's my skin color i dont tan my skin is beautiful flawless and rosecomplexion Report It

Reply:Yes! i agree with you. But unfortunatlye many people don't see that and go to tanning salons like twice a week.


The girls at my school get tans only for their body, so their face is their natural skin color, so you can tell that they got a fake tan. Sometimes i think it's ugly. Plus it ruins your skin.

Reply:me, even tho i get a great tan..(italian n spanish) i have naturally fair but sallow golden-ish skin..i like porcelain skin..as long as its clear

Reply:Back in the day, pale and fair skin was the "in" thing that women used to powder their faces until it was completely white. Not sure why it's different now but I like both fair and tan skin.
Reply:fair skin is pretty look at nicole kidman. i personally prefer a slightly tanned look (not fake orange tan or sunburned or grossly tanned)...and i don't even TRY to get a tan...i just get it by going to the beach or playing outside or just doing everyday things. healthy skin is pretty.
Reply:i LOVE fair skin. I put lubriderm with 15 spf on everyday just to make sure i dont get any little bit of tanning. (theyre just jealous that they dont have creamy white skin like us..and most people cant even pull it off!) me and a few other people i know do the same thing. (and we live in phoenix arizona ironic eh?)

Reply:It annoys me that people tell me I should go get a tan. I have very fair skin, and would rather keep it that way so I don't get skin cancer. I get a little tanner in the summer just from being outside, but I figure if God made me pale, then that is how I should be! I admit, I do occasionally use the "Natural Glow" lotion - it makes me just a tiny bit tanner and has a bit of shimmer in it, which I really like.





It used to be that the paler you were, the higher your status because it meant you were rich (didn't have to work outside). Ironic.
Reply:I wish I had fair skin! I am using a skin whitener and it helps. But I wished I had it naturally!
Reply:i think fair skin is lovely and it shows the gentleness of a lady. im born with a natural fair skin and i'm proud of it and i take good care of it by applying lotion to enhance my skin tone.
Reply:Fair skin doesn't age well, wrinkles look hideous, and all those creams to protect it from the elements, if you tan then you're one of the lucky ones if not then you're gonna look silly with it on in the winter, sorry the best you could do is to put a brown bag over the top
Reply:I agree with u, fair skin is pretty. It's hard to say based just off of someones skin tone like that. I mean how soft their skin feels n watnot is important too. So potentially any skin tone can look good, it depends on many otehr things know wat I'm sayin?
