Lighter patches on skin.?

What would cause small, roughly dime sized patches of skin on the face not to tan and stay slightly lighter than the rest of the skin? It looks like dry skin. What could cause this and besides skin moisturizers, what could remedy it?

If you used steroid medicated ointments for any reason, it will cause lighter skin patches that are noticeable after tanning. Also, if it is dry skin, then you need a rich emollient moisturizer to help. Also, zinc in suntanning lotions sometimes causes these side affects.

This is another form of "sun spots." You can't take them off but you can try to prevent more from coming. Get a good SPF sunscreen and USE it. We are playing hide and seek with the sun and it doesn't work because the sun will bounce off objects and find you even when you think you're in the shade. You pay a wicked price for baking in the sun to get a tan. And you may not see the damage this year but you will see it. You are already seeing some of it.
