Hairspray bad for skin?

I use a lot of hairspray for my up-do hairstyle and consequently I usually get a lot of over spray all over my ears. I never really thought much of it, until one of my friends pointed out and asked why my ears are always glistening and supershiny. Is alcohol based hairspray bad for the skin of my outer ears? I never had any skin irritation (or should I say EAR-itation) on the skin of my ears, but Im thinking anything alcohol based should probably stay off the skin as much as possible?

while hair spray may cause irritation too some people, its fine to get a little on the skin. if you havent had one yet then have no fear of using it. but i agree, shiny ears are a sign that you have bad aim. have the spray closer to you hair. the 12 inches recomendation is a little much
Hairspray bad for skin?
I think so because it does have alcohol
Reply:Well alcohol can dry out your skin. ALso, not that you are having this problem at least you don't describe it, but hairspray clogs pores so be careful not to get to much on your face, or wash your face after because it can cause break outs.
Reply:hair spray is for HAIR. What you need to do is massage your skin with olive oil or use 2 table spoons odf olive oil in your bath. You can also use apple cider vinegar, it helps with everything in the body
Reply:not bad for skin
Reply:I'd have to agree with the alcohol drying out the skin. Strange that you havent had any irritation yet. A ex co worker of mine always had hairspray coated ears when she came to work, and she had mentioned that the skin of her ears gets really greasy as the oil glands try and compensate for the time she has dried hairspray on her ears. Im sure if you quit using so much hairspray your ear's skin will thank you in the long run.
