Can dark skinned people get skin cancer?

I'm very dark and have been staying in the sun. I have recently heard about the skin cancer epidemic but then heard about the controversy that surrounds dark ppl and whether or not they get skin cancer... Can we?
Can dark skinned people get skin cancer?
yeah......deseases dont pick bodies for skin tone, or who the are.....they are not racist or judgemental.....they like anyone ( the only perfect example of unconditional love in this world).................lol
Can dark skinned people get skin cancer?
Anyone can get skin cancer. The rates are higher among white people, but melanoma can affect anyone at all.
Reply:If you have skin you can get skin cancer.
Reply:Anybody can get it.
Reply:Of course they can. They are humans, or didn't this thought occur to you?
Reply:offcourse anyone can, dark skinned just have a very low percentage of getting it, since their skin is thicker...
Reply:you sure can, use protection when outside! Scary stuff!
Reply:Nope not really the darker u are the less chance of u getting skin cancer.
Reply:anyone can its just that darker skinned seem to be more tolerable to the sun,but not all skin cancer is only from the sun.
Reply:I know for sure that cancer is not that picky about us, if its has any ability to infect anyone then believe me it won't take a look at our skin color, just like catching a cold.

I recommand you to take a visit to your Doctor for a check up cuz if you found you have skin cancer you might be able to remove the infected cells, the more earlier the more better
Reply:No because they are from the dark skinned peoples planet and immune to our solar radiations. ARE YOU SERIOUS? Thats like asking if birds can get bird flu. What color was Robert E Lee's GREY horse?. I'm guessing grey how about you?.
Reply:It also depends on wathc you mean by "staying in the sun". If you been hanging out near the equator on a beach for 8 hrs a day, then you're definitely looking for trouble.

If you just bought a new bike, and your in the sun 10 hours a week, and you live in Boston, then that's not going to be any threat at all.

If you read this answer, why don't you clarify what kind of exposure you mean in your question ("add details").
