Red, raw skin from Retin A?

I've been using Retin A for a little over 3 weeks now. My skin is still peeling and bright red and raw in some areas of my nose. I've even peeled some of the dead layers off revealing more red skin that is tender to touch. Is there anything I can apply to reduce the redness and inflammation? I've tried aloe (from plant) but it made it brighter red. Right now I have Neosporin on it. Will this red raw skin ever go back to normal? Thanks!

Whatever you do, do not help the skin peel b/c this will put you right back where you started...raw skin, that is not ready to be exposed. Use aquafor. It's a great healing ointment.

I was using this product for a short time and my dermatologist told me if that were to happen to stop using the product and let your skin heel. To help the redness and swelling try this product called PURPOSE redness reducing moisturizer by Johnson %26amp; Johnson. Don't worry this product is good for your skin and WILL NOT cause more acne.

Reply:I beleive you need to be on birth control due to the high Vitamin A content, first and foremost.

Secondly...I used it 15 years ago due to cystic acne and had the same response to a "T". I eventually discontinued use as the red face I had was more embarassing that zits. I remember having to use a cold pack on my face as it was sooo inflammed and red. try to keep you skin clean with a mild cleanser (not soap), and discontinue use unitl you can consult your doctor is my reccomendation. Your skin grows from the inside out...and as you are killing and peeling layers off the top you are exposing the basal layer of cells which are inandated with capillaries so it will look quite red until the skin layers grow and die and return to the normal appearance.

Remember that a diet high in sugar increases the activity of keratinocytes, which i know now but not then...and avoiding sugar has helped me since.
Reply:i had exactly what you had when i used retin A. i would stop using that ASAP. if you stop using it the redness will completely go away in about a week. but you should try a different product. retin A is not meant for sensitive skin at all. its an acid treatment.
